RIP RS DesignSpark Mechanical (#R19)

It looks like RS has pulled the plug on the free Designspark Mechanical 3D modelling software. I’ve only been using it for about three years, starting right on the transition from DSM4 to DSM5, but I spent countless hours with it, making or editing probably close to 100 models, plus opening hundreds more, e.g. recently checking electronic component STEP files before importing them into Altium. OpenSCAD doesn’t really work for complex geometries, and Sketchup, later Google Sketchup, was quickly dismissed when I tried DSM – it’s simply inferior software, at least, it was back in ~2019/2020, plus Google als tried monetizing it at that point. Theme Font & Size Changer for Thunderbird 64.6 fixes (#E6F4)

Yeah, f*ck me, why am I doing this.

Okay, so after a few requests and complaints about issues with TB 60.2.1 and 63b1, I spent the last hours digging deeper. That’s a mess, and not only on the code side of this addon, but also in terms of Mozilla. Well, who would have thought.

64.6 was just uploaded to the TB repository, could take a week to get that approved. Took care of zoom field and fonts list, also updated some more stuff that got disabled already or will get disabled in the near future.

Zoom. Not as in the Mazda cars, but as in layout.css.devPixelsPerPx. That actually was set to an oncommand on the text box itself, which, after I finally got it to break in 60.2.1, never again worked in previous versions. […]

You are receiving this email because you are listed as a developer of a legacy add-on on addons.mozilla.org (AMO). Mozilla will stop supporting Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) 52, the final release that is compatible with legacy add-ons, on September 5, 2018.
 
As no supported versions of Firefox will be compatible with legacy add-ons after this date, we will start the process of disabling legacy add-on versions on AMO. On September 6, 2018, submissions for new legacy add-on versions will be disabled.

You know what really grinds my gears? MORONS that “maintain” a piece of software.

This guy called Baris Derin has quite a lot of Mozilla (FF/TB) addons out there. Great stuff. I’ve been using the font changer for quite some time, as my Thunderbird looks a bit odd with default settings. So, what’s wrong with it? […]
