Palladium LA-1000 pre-amp and Revox Evolution stereo system (#P2)

Well, this weekend I’ve been busy replacing dead and leaked caps from something not too Wan-Hung-Lo-ish…a Palladium LA-1000 pre-amp (“Vorverstärker”) back from the 80’s. These are still sold for absurd amounts of money (just like the Revox described down below), so I decided it’s worth a shot. Details on that thing are scarce, and so I’d like to post the cap list in case someone also needs replacements for their dripping electron containers.

USB 2.0 4-Port Aluminum Hubs … and Chinese manual labour (WHL #20)

For today’s blog post I have something that I found at work yesterday. It’s a plain old USB 2.0 hub in an aluminium case, which is used inside of our measuring equipment. Just a jellybean part, it’s sold as Logilink here but I bet other brands just slap on a different logo on the front and they’re good to go. We chose this because it is relatively small, has all USB jacks flat in line (the smaller ones have 2×2 configuration or tend to stack them), and can make use of external power supplies, rather than sucking too much from the uplink port. Look, we’re steering off track…even fewer electronic parts than in the last slimy post! We’re back to the steam era!

I’m not planning to become an universal gadget tester, but I had to check this one which was in today’s mail. I got it from eBay merely two weeks ago and I paid 4.99 USD for it, including economy shipping. And now I’m a proud owner of some Nippon stamp worth 180 Yen, which in itself is around 1.5 USD. Adroit High-Tech Magic Sticky Jelly Compound Super Clean Slimy Gel Computer PC Laptop (WHL #18)

After the hard facts of the last Wan Hung Lo post, let’s get a little softer, a little more slimy…and gross. You’ve been warned ;)

Today’s item is some cleaning gel that I bought at the end of January on AliExpress for 1.36€ including shipping. I’m not even sure how it is called, the package is mostly non-latin characters, but apparently it’s from “Super Clean Europe”…guess the Asian versions have more funky colorings added to them.

I cannot spot any weight, amount, volume marking on the bag, maybe the “80” on the bottom indicates 80g. […]
