Breadboard friendly Four Decade Programmable Resistor Board, 1%, 1/4W, KIT (WHL #25)

Got some more Open Hardware today! Not mine, though…it’s a four decade resistor adapter from luftek, who apparently comes from Slovenia. He has a github repository for his project called Dekada if you want to check it out (literal git checkout is also possible :) ). I happened to buy Version 0.1 back in September 2016 for dirt-cheap 1.99 USD per unit – I bought two pieces via eBay, directly from luftek. Unlike the Wan Hung Lo guys, we in Europe generally have to pay a reasonable amount of money for postage…in this case 3.98 USD. […]

Luxury Wirst Watch Bluetooth Watch U8 Smartwatch Digital Sport Watches for Apple IOS Android phone Wearable Electronic Devices (WHL #24)

Dave Jones sometimes sniffs when he senses bullshit. I’ve got a strange sensation too, I feel a wank incoming…

Today’s item is something that I ordered for a friend. It cost 8.29€ on AliExpress (back in January 2017, and that was the second attempt), and I actually ordered two of them. What do you need two watches for? I don’t know. Probably for salvaging parts… ;)

I don’t usually refrain from buying something that might turn out crappy. After all, if it’s total bullshit, I can always ask for a refund and show some disintegration pictures to prove my claim. […]

Micro usb male to female 1 to 2 Splitter Phone sync data charge Cord Y Splitter (WHL #23)

Uuuh, I’m lazy today. Let’s review an USB cable

Well, it’s not one of your standard A to B cables. It’s a splitter extension cable for Micro USB, basically violating all USB specs  . I bought it as I’ve been using two phones in parallel for quite a while now – I can’t let go of my N900 with the nice QWERTZ hardware keyboard and full system access, but I’m also running a Galaxy S5 for all that modern Android rubbish (including BLE support for my GoFar). So this cable acts as a Y splitter from Micro USB (female) to two Micro USB males, effectively saving me the standby power (and socket space) of one charger. […]

10Pcs Electric Car Bike Toy Battery 18650 Spacer Radiating Holder Bracket Black (WHL #22)

…and 10PC 18650 Battery 4×5 Cell Spacer Radiating Shell Plastic Holder Bracket KT0569 as well (yeah, the second one is misleading, I know).

Today, I have some mechanical parts in preparation for another project. These are stackable 18650 battery holders without electrical contacts. I have some more holders for pure storage and also single (non-stackable) battery holders with contacts, but these are something in between.

Let’s have a look:

I actually ordered two variants of them, and as usual, a seller that has the one type doesn’t have the other in stock and vice versa – or they are super expensive. […]

250W DC-DC Boost Converter Adjustable 10A Step Up Constant Current Power Supply Module Led Driver For Arduino (WHL #21)

What do you do when none of your existing power supplies can provide enough power for some decent LED module? Yeah, right, you buy a bigger one!

So I did. I had some 100W/150W DC-DC converters laying around, but most of them cap at around 36V. And with the very nice Toshiba E-Core 92W LED module that wants 40V or more, that’s just not good enough (same goes for the popular 25W/50W/100W LED modules!). So the new one in my collection is this:

Some more shots:

I bought it on AliExpress back in mid-January for 4.31€ including shipping.

Tech specs are, according to the seller: 250W total output power (boost = step-up only), non-isolated output, input current 8A or 10A with additional heat sinking. […]
