Breadboard friendly Four Decade Programmable Resistor Board, 1%, 1/4W, KIT (WHL #25)

Got some more Open Hardware today! Not mine, though…it’s a four decade resistor adapter from luftek, who apparently comes from Slovenia. He has a github repository for his project called Dekada if you want to check it out (literal git checkout is also possible :) ). I happened to buy Version 0.1 back in September 2016 for dirt-cheap 1.99 USD per unit – I bought two pieces via eBay, directly from luftek. Micro usb male to female 1 to 2 Splitter Phone sync data charge Cord Y Splitter (WHL #23)

Uuuh, I’m lazy today. Let’s review an USB cable :mrgreen:

Well, it’s not one of your standard A to B cables. It’s a splitter extension cable for Micro USB, basically violating all USB specs :cool: . I bought it as I’ve been using two phones in parallel for quite a while now – I can’t let go of my N900 with the nice QWERTZ hardware keyboard and full system access, but I’m also running a Galaxy S5 for all that modern Android rubbish (including BLE support for my GoFar). So this cable acts as a Y splitter from Micro USB (female) to two Micro USB males, effectively saving me the standby power (and socket space) of one charger. […]

7 decade thumbwheel resistor box (project #P1)

A while ago, I wrote articles about a bargain SMD resistor set (WHL #10 ) as well as some thumbwheel switches (WHL #11). Let’s start fresh in 2017 and present the final box :)

As already shown in the thumbwheel post, the initial resistor placement wasn’t perfect. I fiddled some more and I got a case and nice 4mm banana plugs for it. First, let’s see the final measurement results, done with a calibrated Keithley 2700 6 1/2 digit DMM in 4-Wire (Kelvin) mode.

Yep, the 1Ω data point still violates the 1%/10000ppm spec (1,9%). […]
