Tesla × atg (#E28)
Quick change of plans for today: Tesla uploaded a short video to Youtube this morning called TERAFAB.
While it’s not exactly going viral at 200k views within 20 hours, it’s doing reasonably well given Tesla has 2.9 million subscribers as of now. Clearly, there’s room for more.
The interesting part (for me) however is 0:37. Out of all the Tesla and SpaceX products and factory equipment shown, there’s something that is NOT made by Tesla. Not shown for a terribly long time and also unlabelled, but it does stand out:
That is a purchased machine. An atg A9aL fully automated flying prober, to be precise.
We at atg Mycronic make these things. A full 196 of them and their smaller and larger brothers in 2025, to be precise. That’s all we do. 120 people, day in, day out.
Nobody will know, as basically all viewers will think this is some custom Tesla factory equipment. It’s not, it’s a standard product that we build for all the world-class PCB manufacturers out there.
Man, this split second showcase really made my day ❤️
