Server migration before server migration (#E14)

Quick update post: My all-time favourite hoster Uberspace veeery recently announced that the entire U6 generation of their servers will be moved to a different data center this very evening, as the old one will be torn down. Wan Hung Lo was hosted on those. Starting time about 8 o’clock in the evening local time, downtime probably four to eight hours in total, but servers are moved in smaller batches.

With two hours notice I decided to upgrade to the U7 server generation which everybody will be forced to until the end of the year (EOS of CentOS6 with EOM by Uberspace). […]


Let’s Encrypt! (#E7)

Just added a SSL/TLS certificate to the site, which once again is a breeze due to the very helpful commandline tools of my hoster uberspace. Works for me, at the moment, so let’s see how much stuff breaks in WordPress over the next few days and months. What could possibly go wrong :grin:

(Yes, I know HTTP logins aren’t state of the art, but why serve HTTPS to literally a thousand spammer accounts that never ever managed to sign in? Waiting for the first one to actually pass…) […]
