Refrigerator Odor Eliminator Air Purifier Deodorizer USB O3 Ozone Air Purifier Food Preservation Deodorizing Fridge Freshener (WHL #99)

Ozone generators – the heroes of fart neutralization :D
(or something along those lines…)

I recently got a portable ozone generator that is powered from a single 18650 lithium cell, at a whopping 6.39€ from AliExpress. I already own two of the units BigClive once described as “Twinkies“, due to the fact he recommended this style of unit because of its circuitry. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong ones with 4x AA battery supply instead of a 18650 cell – it wasn’t clear in the description and I couldn’t be bothered as the units were 4.82€ back in late 2021. USB LiPo battery BBQ arc lighter – CCFL test device (WHL #47)

Fun with high voltages.
[NOT a sponsored post! They’ll probably do not want me to do that in the first place…]

This week (at work…), I repaired an old Siemens PLC unit with a failed display backlight. Good old CCFL crap that literally burns out over time. As this wasn’t time critical (unlike the last unit), I ordered some CCFL to LED conversion kit from China, modified that to fit the tiny display, threw away the crappy “converter” PCB and installed some homebrew.

While fiddling around, my mind wandered off. […]

Fujitsu P20-2 CCFL to LED conversion (#P9)

Okay, so here’s something that I wanted to do for a long time, but it makes no sense in terms of time and money. But hey, I finally did it and it was fun!

I’ve shown my old Fujitsu P20-2 monitor previously as a comparison to the current 3440×1440 setup. It’s an old prosumer-grade 1600×1200 display, 20″, 60 Hz S-PVA panel with VGA and DVI inputs. Really good stuff. I got two of them after they failed by the dozen at university, where the tech guys even did a capacitor swap (these were in the upper three-digit Euro range when new, their replacements are totally overpriced 2560×1440 displays for 700€ a pop).
