Refrigerator Odor Eliminator Air Purifier Deodorizer USB O3 Ozone Air Purifier Food Preservation Deodorizing Fridge Freshener (WHL #99)

Ozone generators – the heroes of fart neutralization :D
(or something along those lines…)

I recently got a portable ozone generator that is powered from a single 18650 lithium cell, at a whopping 6.39€ from AliExpress. I already own two of the units BigClive once described as “Twinkies“, due to the fact he recommended this style of unit because of its circuitry. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong ones with 4x AA battery supply instead of a 18650 cell – it wasn’t clear in the description and I couldn’t be bothered as the units were 4.82€ back in late 2021. Flashlight comparison – Dimmable Triple XM-L2 vs USB rechargeable XPL HI (WHL #74)

China gadgets, finally

Both of these have been laying around for years now. Time for a review – we currently got a little bit of a snowy April, but mosquito season has already started and four of those bastards have made it inside my living room. No survivors  And of course, those flashlights can also be used for, you know, flashlight stuff. Finding things, not tripping over other things, sitting around with empty batteries and so on…

So, the contenders:

“Roxane X6 XPL HI 1850LM 650m Type-C Rechargeable LED Flashlight IPX7 Waterproof USB Charging 26650 Powerful Searchlight – Cool White”, bought from Banggood almost two years ago at 25,56€ including shipping. […]

Bosch Professional GAA 18V-24 USB charging adapter 1600A00J61 1600A00J5W (WHL #49)

Something out of the ordinary for today, a brand new item, bought for disassembly and kind-of off-label use. A Bosch Professional USB charger which happens to have a 12V port also…

Contrary to my very first thought when I found this charger, it does NOT allow 18V batteries to be charged from USB or a 12V source. Maybe I should test that, but I doubt it. However, it does convert the other way – stick in a 18V power tool battery (ranging from 1.5Ah to 12Ah as of today) and get a USB charger with a lot of oomph, or a “heated jacked” power source with a lot of potential for baggy pockets. modellbaufuchs 26650 6S2P 4.6Ah LiFePO4 battery pack with balancer port (WHL #29)

And another one. I’ll churn these battery reviews out once per week now, even though I said I would rather go biweekly. It’s not much extra effort – charging, discharging and then plotting the data has to be done anyway, taking some extra photos and waffling on about it on my blog is a plus.

So this week’s item is a 6S2P battery pack, LiFePO4, rated at 4.6Ah. It’s from modellbaufuchs, which I just visited in preparation for this post. Not sure if they are still in business, as their latest news item on the page dates back to early 2015. […]

O’CELL 26650 LiFePO4 8S 3.3Ah battery pack with BMS (WHL #28)

Same thing again – but different manufacturer. That’s what you get when you clean up your new lab… ;)

I know, might be boring to see another battery pack with almost identical specs (3.3Ah instead of 3.2Ah), but trust me, this is like night and day – or like quality China and Wan Hung Lo.

Of course these two batteries were purchased at the same time for the same thing, and they cost around the same as well. But (spoiler!): These two units work fine.

Top view:

Nice shrink wrap, proper label (shout out to O’CELL and their caring but not nagging sales people). […]

16 Bit I2C ADS1115 Module ADC 4 channel with Pro Gain Amplifier RPi (WHL #26)

Meep. We finally have a new product review, after all that editorial, recap and electronic load rubbish ;)

Today’s item in the mail is an I²C ADC on a small PCB, running four channels (or two differential ones) with 16 bit precision. Sounds nice? Well, if it holds the claimed specs, it IS a nice product! I bought it in mid-June on AliExpress for 2.06 USD. Adafruit, by the way, charges 15 bucks for the exact same thing. Do I smell profit margin?

Here’s how it looks straight out of the ESD bag:

Backside is a tad boring (keep the VDD in mind):

(there’s a floating island on the GND plane, boo!) […]

USB detector 3.0 High voltage 4 bit OLED QC 2.0 Digital detector voltmeter ammeter voltage current power capacity tester meter (WHL #17)

New at Wan Hung Lo:

…wait, what?

(I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to find my address if you want to, just making it a little harder for google to index it as an image…)

So, what is it actually? Sure, it’s the USB power meter from the blog title. Who would have thought!
Bloody kids with USB 3 toys! Back in my days, we had…umm, good old RS-232

I bought this one month ago at AliExpress for 8,61€ including shipping. As you can see, they decided to use some tracked mailing instead of the “ah, no worries” cheapo variant. […]

DC 12V 300LED 5M LED Strip 5050 RGB 5630 3528 3014 Not Waterproof LED Strip Light Flexible Neon Lamp Tiras LED Light Tape Stripe

or

5m/roll SMD 5630 DC 12V Not Waterproof LED Strip White / Warm White String Lights Fita Lamps for Home Lighting Cabinet Decorate

Well, you get the idea. It’s LED strips this time, and I chose 5630 size in warm white color. I’ve been ordering quite an amount of these, and in hindsight, I would rather buy A LOT of them instead of getting 1-2 reels at a time. […]
